How To Change Your Fashion Sense On A Budget

Hello! Hope you’re okay! Today’s blog post is about how to change your fashion sense on a budget! The assumption is you have to get rid of all of your clothes and buy completely new clothes which is completely false! That is both expensive and unsustainable so in this post, I will be sharing some suggestions on how to do it sustainably and on a budget! I hope you like this post and comment if you’ve ever changed your fashion sense (and some tips)!

Add To Your Basic Pieces

Basic pieces are perfect for any fashion style and they look very stylish! Check out my Fashion Essentials For Your Wardrobe blog post to check you have all the basics in your wardrobe!

Add Colour/Patterns To Your Wardrobe

If you want to try a new fashion style, why not just buy some bright coloured clothes to add to your wardrobe! As I mentioned in my last point, you have a bright coloured top with basic bottoms or vice versa!

Be Conscious With Your Choices

Ask yourself the questions of: is it within your budget? Will I wear it regularly? before buying your new clothes! These questions will help you from buying clothes you won’t wear and wasting your money! The questions can also just apply to if you’re buying new clothes normally and I definitely need to ask myself these questions more sometimes!

Look For Second Hand Clothes

Sometimes second hand clothes can be really good for changing your style! Not only are they usually cheaper than shop bought clothes but they also give a second life to perfectly good clothes which reduces clothing waste! Second hand stores to look at are charity shops, depop, friends/family etc.

Also, if you’re going to get rid of some clothes that won’t match your new style, selling or donating your clothes is a lot better than just throwing them away if they are in good condition!

Only Change One Area Of Your Wardrobe

Only changing one area of your wardrobe is much easier, cheaper and sustainable! My advice would be to change up most of your casual wear (since casual wear is worn the most regularly) to find a new fashion sense and then keep all of your occasion wear, loungewear, etc.

  1. Changing one area at a time is excellent advice else things can get out of hand and become more chaotic as opposed to more refined. Love your ideas for adding different patterns and textures in, and always shopping second hand. 🙂

  2. These are such great tips! I really appreciate the concept of a capsule wardrobe and working towards this. Quality over quantity is my motto! Thanks for sharing.
