Hello! I hope everyone is okay! Today’s blog post is about running tips for beginners! I have been running on and off for around 3 years now! This year I have been running a lot more than I did before and I feel like I’m enjoying it more. Also I have done a few 3K and 5K races in the past. Create A Running Routine
This is something that I have worked on this year. I didn’t used to have a routine in the past so I wasn’t very motivated to go on runs so I didn’t go very often. Set aside 1 or 2 days a week to go on a run and you don’t have to stick to it every time as you just can use it as a guide. Having a routine helps you to remember when do to runs!
Start Slow And Do Short Distances
You should definitely do this! When I took a break from running for a bit, I started slow and did short distances and that really helped me to do further and a bit faster distances now. Another thing you could do if you are new to running is do a few minutes running and then a few minutes walking.
I need to work on this as often I go too fast at the start and by the end I’m going really slow or I can’t do the distance I wanted to do because I went too fast. To help with this, I would say to use a fitness watch or a fitness app on your phone to check your pace and how long it has taken you to get to a certain point. I usually use my fitbit or the app Strava.
Change Up Your Route
I used to go the same route for around 2 years and it got very boring. It wasn’t until recently that I changed my route because the old route that I used to do got too busy. I’m so glad that I changed my route because it is so much more interesting and the new route is a lot quieter. I now have 3 different routes that I can decide from!
Always Warm Up & Stretch Afterwards
This is so important because it stops you from injuring yourself and your legs feel less sore the next day. I always warmed up before a run but I used to forget to stretch later on in the day which didn’t help me recover. I’ve created a stretching routine that I do every time because I know that it works.
