How To Get The Perfect Gift

Hello! I hope everyone is okay! In today’s blog post, I am going to be sharing with you how to get the perfect gift for someone you love and how to take the stress away from buying gifts. Whether the gift is for a birthday, family/friend’s event or a holiday here are some tips for you. It was recently one of my family member’s birthday so I thought I would do this post to hopefully help you. Comment your favorite gift you’ve ever received!

Buy the gifts 2-3 weeks before the event

Don’t leave it till last minute! This causes stress and it may not come in time if you are ordering online. Plan what you are going to get them around a month before and then order it 1 or 2 weeks later. This means the gift is more likely to be more thoughtful and therefore the person will like it more.

Quality over price

Don’t just buy something because it’s expensive. It’s best to buy something cheap that is more meaningful to the receiver rather something expensive that they won’t like/use.

Set a budget

When planning the gifts, set a maximum spend limit on all of the gifts. This means you are less likely to spend too much and you can look for gifts within that budget.

Listen for hints from the receiver

The receiver may give hints near to the time of their event! They might say things they need or really want and then you can go and get it if it’s within your budget!

Think about the receivers likes/interests

Don’t just get something because people from their age/gender likes it. Think specifically about what the receiver likes doing and then have a browse of things that fit into that category.

  1. I set up birthday reminders two weeks before everyone’s birthdays so I always have time to get gifts 🙂 I definitely agree about not buying presents just because they’re expensive; for Christmas last year I wrote both my parents letters about the lovely memories I had of them growing up, they both appreciated it so much 🙂 xx

  3. Some great tips here! It can be difficult sometimes to know what to get, especially for people who seemingly have everything you’d want to buy for them, it’s best to be prepared and I usually plan super far ahead too, you made a great point about quality over price x

  5. Great tips! I definitely believe in the idea of listening for tips from the person. I actually have a note on my phone where I write down gift ideas during the year and then check it when a birthday or Christmas comes up.

  7. I do believe quality over quantity is worth it. Sometimes friends really want one small thing as opposed to something that cost an arm and a leg that they will never use. Buying a couple weeks in advance is a great way to be prepared. 🙂

  8. Great tips, my mum always drops a million tips so I’m always prepared for her but I really struggle with gifts for the males in my family. I always try to plan in advance but still end up shopping last minute because I can never figure out what to buy x

  9. + I am also always trying to put in gifts something personal, like a homemade greeting card, self-made poem, etc. It gives a very special feeling for the receiver 🙂

  10. These are really great tips! I always start present planning about a month before the date as I can budget, look around and find the best gift possible. When it gets to Christmas, I start planning around October time just so I have time to play with things etc! Thank you for sharing these tips

  12. Great tips – leaving gifts to the last minute is something that I’m particularly bad at, but really trying to improve on! Quality over price is so important too – not everything needs to be super expensive! Thanks for sharing

  13. I must admit, I’m sometimes guilty of leaving gift buying to the last minute. But since investing in a bullet journal a few weeks ago, I’m starting to be much more aware of what I’ve got going on and what events are coming up. Planning gift ideas in advance is great advice, as it’s much better to give a thoughtful gift than a one you’ve panic bought at the last minute x
